disclaimer: almost none of this actually comes from Greek mythology.
Lyris Columbine, aged 19 and the older of the Columbine twins, is a soft-spoken and level-headed Sirenian with nearly infinite patience and overly serious demeanor.
Lyris and her younger brother Ithaca left the rocky shores of Sirenia on their 17th birthday as a traditional rite of passage, in which those coming of age travel as far as possible for four years with only their small sailboat, a map, and a limited food supply. Though not enthused with the ritual, finding it more prudent to stay home, at the urgence of her peers, family, and Ithaca, she set out to make new allies for herself and see the world. Ithaca is more excited about traveling than she is, as Lyris is generally frail in body and worries about her own safety, but Ithaca has taken on himself the job of protecting her and charting their course. Lyris works the sails and plans for possible roadblocks.
Lyris has the traditional power of the females of her kind, the power of mind suggestion via song. Though she cannot directly control someone, she can induce powerful hallucinations and influence someone's thinking when she sings; however, the song takes a reasonable amount of time to work, longer for more intense control, and she cannot be interrupted or the spell will be broken. For this reason, she prefers to enter battle with Ithaca to handle manual combat as she casts.
Sirenians are generally tall and pale, with half-webbed fingers and toes for swimming and small, downy vestigial bird wings on their backs. Lyris, though 5'7", is short and small-framed for her kind; she has frail hands unsuited to combat and softly curved hips, and long wavy dark hair that falls over her eyes. She prefers to go without top-covering when possible, and in a Godiva-like way she can often get away with it, but she generally wears a dark blue drape wrapped around her body.
