So my Mom asked me what my view was on a Church in Florida burning a Qur'an*Muslim Holy text* on 9/11. So it made me wonder, what do you guys think about the church burning the Qur'an on 9/11,*I'm personally against it* and why you guys think they should or shouldn't.

True, true. Just seeing what others thought about it.

There is only one true religion. That is Christianity. That is what I believe. But, even though I believe that, I know that god gave us free will, and to other people, their religion is the only true religion. I accept that other people can believe in a different god or gods. It's okay to think other religions are silly or even stupid, but it's NOT okay to disrespect their beliefs. All religions are equally important, just to different people regardless of whose is true, once again, I think mine is true, but other people think the exact same way about other things, and god gave us free will so we could I we wished.

When I heard that on the radio, I thought it was a hoax BECAUSE IT IS SO INCREDIBLY STUPID. Burning symbols of religion!? It is true that Al Quaida ((horrible spelling)) is an Islamic group, but there are other people in the whole Islamic group. I like what Theirry is saying. I think it's not so much free will as the settings you were raised in and what values you learned, but you can have whatever religion you want.

That too. Everyone is raised with different beliefs and disrespecting them is not only foolish and small minded, but it must be embarrassing for the people of that religion, not to mention they have every right to be furious.

The Qur'an and the Bible both refer to the same God, they are just different interpretations of him. If people want to follow that religion, that's fine as long as they don't cause trouble. I am however against the building of a Mosque at Ground Zero, there are already over 300 mosques in New York City, a few of which are only a couple of blocks away from where they want to build they new one. Muslims destroyed the trade centers, I don't think a place of worship for their religion should be build on the site of their attack, even if it is an entirely different group of people.

You mean you think that the place the World Trade Center used to be should be left alone as some kind of remembrance?

In my opinion it should.

Interesting you said that. My Dad actually told me he did a little research, and if I remember correctly, Muslims believe if you build a place of worship where an enemies building fell, it;s a sign of victory. or something like that. But back to the burning, I do think God doesn't want us to be burning things others cherish. it reminds me alot of what Hitler did, burning Jewish books and all.

it reminds me alot of what Hitler did, burning Jewish books and all. Nice point. Also yeah, all three of the monotheistic religions are related. I am okay if they don't want a mosque there if they are going to use that land whether it be housing, memorial, etc. Actually, the memorial sounds nice.

I think a memorial would be good.

That would make it seem malicious even if that wasn't their intention. Not a good idea.

But the Muslim priest is saying it's a sign of peace. If it really is, why put it somewhere that would upset people? Why not peacefully move it elsewhere?
